The 3rd Installation ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Kandy Metropolitan marked the official induction of Rtn. Rtr. Jude Shannon Lucian and his board of directors. After consideration of the situation of the country, importance of doing impactful projects while having a diverse club that includes members from various backgrounds, the theme for this year was selected as “Striving for a better tomorrow”.
The ceremony was held 18 th of December 2023 at Hotel Thilanka Kandy. Illuminated with colorful lights & a grand ambiance, the event began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp decorated beautifully by the club members. The outgoing president Rtn. Rtr. IPP Shehara Karunarathne called the ceremony to order, followed by the National Anthem, Rotaract Formalities. The welcome address was delivered by the project chairperson Rtr. Aravinda Madagammana. Next, the guests were given a glimpse into the club’s amazing journey throughout the past year with the secretary’s report presented by outgoing secretary Rtn. Rtr. Jude Shannon Lucian. Then came the time for the outgoing president Rtn. Rtr. IPP Shehara Karunarathne to address the gathering one last time.
In her speech, Rtn. Rtr. IPP Shehara Karunarathne fondly reminisced about her year as President and the journey she came through a tough time with an amazing group on individuals. Rtn. Rtr. Shehara Karunarathne then proceeded to certificates to the outstanding performers for the years 2021/22 as a token of thanks for the services rendered towards the club.
Then it was finally time to introduce the incoming president of the club, Rtn. Rtr. Jude Shannon Lucian, who was collared as the 3rd President of Rotaract Club of Kandy Metropolitan. Rtn. Rtr. Jude Shannon Lucian then went on to address the gathering & in his speech he outlined the amazing work the club has done in the past 06 months & thanked all the members who were a huge strength to uplift the club to the position it stands today & requested all the members & dignitaries present to continue supporting the club in any way possible Rtn. Rtr. Jude Shannon Lucian ended his speech by thanking all the members of the club the “Friends that turned into Family”.
Finally the ceremony was open for felicitations after which the tokens of appreciation were given out to the dignitaries present. Then president Rtn. Rtr. Jude Shannon Lucian then terminated the 03 rd Installation of the Rotaract Club of Kandy Metropolitan for further fellowships.
